The idea was to have the changemat close & ready for the parent, to transfer the baby from the bath to the changemat, without fumbling with lids or having to stand up. The transfer needed to be quick & easy to reduce risks to the baby and parent.

The bath and change-mat will be next to each other for you so once you have finished bathing your baby you simply lift your baby out of the tub & place onto the towel covering the mat. You can now also pull the plug and dry your baby while the bath is draining.
